Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work! What initially drew you to healthcare, specifically PFS?

My name is Tianna Copeland-Miles. I am a Revenue Cycle Consultant. I’ve been in the healthcare consulting field for a little over 20 years. I have always loved the medical field and wanted to become a doctor. While attending Florida A&M University, I first began studying nursing. After a few rounds of clinicals–I decided that nursing was not for me lol! So I went with my second love -math and money! Working on the financial side of healthcare gives me the best of both worlds. 😊

How has your role evolved since you started in this industry?

Well, as they say- I started from the bottom and now I’m here! Lol. I started off as a biller at a small psych and detox facility.. worked my way up to a supervisor in 6 months.  That facility closed. I went to work for a chiropractor, and then life happened. I moved to Atlanta and I got my first travel job in the revenue cycle. I couldn’t believe that I could travel around the country with all my expenses paid while doing what I love!

Tell us about a proud moment in your career (or life!)

Anytime I can leave a project and know that I left the hospital or SBO in a better shape that when I started is a proud moment for me!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Being able to travel around the country while doing what I love to do! Training, analyzing, and executing.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

Everyday has its opportunities, but the one constant is being the first to arrive and the last to leave.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never stop learning.

What’s one tool, habit, or process that makes your workday smoother?

A calendar! I use it not only for meetings, but I also use it to block off time to work on important projects and reminders.

Describe your perfect weekend:

I was born and raised in South Florida so it the beach life for me! Beach side with family and friends 😊

What are you currently reading, watching, or listening to?

I’m currently studying for my green belt in Six Sigma.

What’s the most random or interesting thing on your desk right now?

The hospital did a mini scavenger hunt. Small random items placed around the hospital. I only found one thing- a small 1 inch acrylic duck! I felt sorry for someone that I met in the cafeteria that didn’t find anything, so I gave her my duck. By the end of the scavenger hunt, I was gifted 3 items –

  • a gold “kindness coin” that says “you made me smile”
  • A little house-that’s on fire and says “it’s fine, I’m fine, EVERYTHING IS FINE”,
  • and yes ! an acrylic duck!

**They are my daily reminder to play it forward 😊

What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?

Bali! I have to go see what all the hype is about lol.

Beach vacation or mountain getaway?

Beach Vacation!!
