High-Level Overview of CPT 2024 Updates:

New Codes: CPT® 2024 will include 153 new codes throughout the code book, including the Evaluation and Management section, several Surgery subsections (Musculoskeletal System, Respiratory System, Cardiovascular System, Urinary System, Female Genital System, Nervous System), the Radiology section, and Pathology and Laboratory.

Editorial Changes: The updates include 349 editorial changes, including 230 additions, 49 deletions, and 70 revisions.

Changes in Evaluation and Management Codes: Time ranges will be removed from the for the office or other outpatient E/M codes 99202- 99215 and replace them with a single total time. This time “must be met or exceeded” according to the new wording that now appears in each of the codes’ descriptors.
