How did you first get into medical coding?
I started out as a nursing student but couldn’t handle death so I went into front end supervisor for billing and my passion grew for knowledge in coding.
What do you love most about your job?
The flexibility, and opportunity for growth within the healthcare industry, and the ability to contribute to the smooth operation of medical facilities.
What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of? During a critical time of the year when expectaions were high, I went above and beyond to help increase revenue for the company.
If you could give your younger self one piece of career advice, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to finish college and don’t waste time on dreams but follow your passion and remain a faithful.
What’s one skill you think is essential for success in medical coding?
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills as well as effective communication.
Who has been a mentor or role model for you in your career? God and my Mom.
If you could describe your job in three words, what would they be? Rewarding, Fullfilling, Collaborative.
What’s a fun fact about you that your colleagues might not know? When I was younger I wanted to be an actress, that’s why I learn movie lines to this day.
What’s your favorite productivity hack? Knowledge and total recall.
What do you like to listen to? Music, podcasts? I love a variety of music.
What do you like to do when you’re not working? Go out to find new adventures.
What are you looking forward to this Spring / Summer? Traveling.
Do you have a guilty pleasure TV show or movie? Yes, YOU on Netflix and the Handmaid’s Tale.
What’s something on your bucket list that you haven’t done yet? Travel to Rome.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Chicken
