How did you get started in the healthcare industry, and how long have you been working in the medical coding field?
I started in healthcare as a Claims Analyst for a federal insurance Co. I’ve been in the healthcare field for “over” 40 years (leave it there!)
Tell us about a proud moment in your career (or life!):
I was able to give the gift of Life – I gave my husband a kidney!
What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?
You are constantly learning, I need more CEU’s than a Nurse!
What do you love most about your job?
All the coders, they really become your work family/friends.
What’s something you find challenging in your line of work?
When the new codes for CPT & ICD-10 come out it can be challenging to make sure providers are using correctly and I use correctly.
What is your favorite hobby?
Painting / Oils + Acrylics.

Do you have any kids or pets? Tell us about them!
I have a blended family and the kids are grown & gone! As for pets, I have two Yorkies, Reba & Roxie, my babies! And we have cattle.
What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
Viking River Cruise down the Mississippi.
What is something you’ve always wanted to learn?
Spanish.
What’s one song you have completely memorized?
Anything from The Eagles.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
I love to play slots once or twice a year.
